About Miss Hartman...
This is my third year at Excelsior Springs Middle School, and I'm so excited for the new school year!
I graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Secondary English Education from Northwest Missouri State University, and graduated with my Masters of Arts in English with an Emphasis in Pedagogy from the same university.
For the 2015-2016 school year, I will be teaching three sections of 6th Grade English Language Arts I, a section of Extended Learning Time, and three sections of 6th Grade English Language Arts II.
In 6th Grade ELA, we will build on skills students previously honed in elementary school, and learn new ones. Throughout the year we will learn how to improve our writings, practice our reading skills, create presentations and practice speaking and listening, and maintain student blogs. We will also read and discuss a multitude of full-length novels, including Where the Red Fern Grows (in August/September), Among the Hidden (in November/December), an approved Independent Reading Project novel (in January/February), and Shipwreck at the Bottom of the World (March/April).
I'm so looking forward to learning with your children this year!
